"Beth Murch is an incredible resource of strength, knowledge and compassion in our community. She knows the most about pregnancy and birth of anyone I've ever met and holds such a loving presence and patient space for families-to-be to explore their options, work through fears and reaffirm their desires. She is an advocate and an ally for the pregnant person and provided me personally with the comfort of knowing should our birth not go as planned she knew my rights and desires and would help me navigate the complex process of birth in our health care system, especially in a hospital setting. Luckily our birth went smoothly at home and she was there for every step, had the best hip squeeze technique, was incredibly reassuring and gave me confidence in her sweet smile. I recommend Beth to everyone I know looking for a doula. She is great! We love you Beth! Thanks for being who you are and being there for so many people!"

- Jennifer Evans, Caledon/KW, Ont.

My name is Beth Murch and I am a certified and experienced full-spectrum doula in beautiful Waterloo Region, Ontario. I provide a wide range of services including (but not limited to): pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support, pregnancy options education, professional and public education, breastfeeding/chestfeeding support, and medical accompaniment. I created and currently facilitate Placenta Squad (a networking group for birth professionals serving Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and beyond). I am also the co-founder and co-director of Timshel Holistic Collective.

I have been practicing for more than a decade, and I have attended over one hundred births, making me one of the most experienced doulas in Waterloo Region. My doula practice is founded on principles of social and reproductive justice, meaning I strive to assist in creating a community that is based on the beliefs of equality, solidarity, the importance of human rights, and the understanding that all people deserve equal access to the benefits of society, regardless of race, creed, faith, age, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and ability.

I have a combined Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, where my area of specialization was the religious and spiritual experiences of women during pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding. I have also undertaken comprehensive education through the Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association of Canada (CAPPA), Doulas of North America (DONA), Ontario Perinatal School (OPS), and Healing Arts Learning Organization (HALO). I am the proud founder, director, and instructor of Revolutionary Doula Training - a comprehensive, anti-oppression-based doula education program. As a strong believer in continuing education for birth workers, I am always taking new workshops and courses to compliment and expand my knowledge: you are as likely to find me taking a class as teaching one!

As someone who offers a broad spectrum of care, my goal is to personalize my services based on the unique needs of my clients both at home and in the hospital. I have positive relationships with local care providers and my doula colleagues. I have often worked with Family and Children's Services of Waterloo Region, Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region, Planned Parenthood, and various other community organizations addressing reproductive experiences

We all have stories to share, and I am committed to providing nurturing, empowering, and practical care to everyone, regardless of their background. I have extensive training and familiarity providing a helping hand to:

  •  young parents
  • those with an adoption plan
  • families of medically fragile babies
  • those experiencing perinatal loss (termination, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss)
  • survivors of sexual assault, birth trauma, and state violence
  • those pursuing surrogacy
  • individuals with past/current addiction issues
  • new Canadians
  • folks needing culturally sensitive support
  • members of the LGBTQ community (conception and beyond)
  • ...and people just like you!

If you are looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, confident in their abilities, who has a nurturing spirit, an easygoing personality, and a great sense of humour, please connect with me!

Land Acknowledgment: The people of Waterloo Region and surrounding area are uninvited guests on ancestral lands belonging to the Anishnawbe, Haudenosaunee and Neutral People. Kitchener-Waterloo is part of the Haldimand Tract, which was given to the Six Nations of the Grand River (Mohawk, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Seneca, Tuscarora) and the Neutral People in 1784 as compensation for their loss of traditional lands. I strive to respect my Indigenous hosts, and I support the decolonization of birth practices.
